About The Destination

Anuradhapura is the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka, established in the 4th century BC. As one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, it is a vast UNESCO World Heritage site filled with ancient ruins, massive brick stupas (dagobas), advanced irrigation reservoirs, and sacred temples. It was the center of Theravada Buddhism for centuries. The city is home to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the sacred bodhi tree grown from a cutting of the historical tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment, making it a profound spiritual site.
